A Grand Celebration Honouring the Life and Legacy of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on His 90th Birth Anniversary, commemorated globally as the “Year of Compassion” at Sankofa Square, Toronto.
In accordance with the directive of the Central Tibetan Administration and the resolution adopted at the 23rd General Meeting of the North American Tibetan Associations (NATA), the Canadian Tibetan Association of Ontario (CTAO) and the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre (TCCC), together with six non-profit organizations namely, the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Toronto, the Tibetan Women’s Association of Ontario, Dokham Chushi Gangdruk Canada, the Dhomay Association of Ontario, the U-Tsang Cholkha of Ontario, and Students for a Free Tibet Toronto, is jointly hosting a grand celebration honouring the life and legacy of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on the occasion of His 90th Birth Anniversary, commemorated globally as the “Year of Compassion,” on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Sankofa Square in Toronto.
On this special occasion, in gratitude and remembrance of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s immense contributions to the welfare of all sentient beings, distinguished speakers and scholars will deliver talks on the Four Main Commitments of His Holiness, as well as his lifelong message and profound efforts in promoting peace, non-violence, universal responsibility, and fundamental human values such as compassion, loving-kindness and warm heartedness. There will also be exhibitions highlighting the profound contributions of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, along with displays of books authored by him.
In addition, exhibitions and presentations will showcase Tibet’s unique language and script, Buddhist culture, traditions and arts, together with a variety of cultural programs and activities. The celebration will also highlight the richness of Tibetan culture and heritage as an important part of Toronto’s vibrant multicultural landscape.
